Remembering Valerie & Malcolm

Malcolm Addison Woodhouse was born at Atwick Hall in Yorkshire on 31st August 1931 to a farming family, Charles and Adelina Woodhouse. He helped out on the farm from as young as 5 and would do this before travelling to school by horse in Withernsea. He enjoyed his horses and as he grew older enjoyed the weekly village dances. He became the Chairman of the Young Farmers. He began travelling to Nottingham in the course of his work.

Valerie Ann Bridge was born in Radford Nottingham on 27th October 1937 to parents Frederick and Maud. She attended The Manning School for Girls and was well educated. She enjoyed swimming and tennis. Her father worked for Raleigh for over 50 years and received the BEM for services during the war.

Malcolm, whilst working in Nottingham, met Valerie on a night out at The Palais. They hit it off and met most weekends and were married in Radford 24th August 1957.

They went on to have three children Karen, Lynne and Dale and lived for 59 years in Arnold until their passing. The children, all married, went on to give them 4 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.

Malcolm enjoyed playing snooker and loved horses. Valerie was a good homemaker and they remained married for 66 years.

They will be remembered for the love and support they gave their children and their grandchildren, they shared good humour and were very well liked by people who were lucky to meet them.

As their children, we remember them for giving us great childhoods, fabulous holidays and Christmases, such lovely memories. Their love and support never waned.

They are both greatly missed, fondly remembered and forever in our hearts.
